Since 1995, healthcare organizations have used
the Baldrige Health Care Criteria to help them address challenges such as
focusing on core competencies, introducing new technologies, reducing
costs, communicating and sharing information electronically, establishing
new alliances with health care providers, or just maintaining market
advantage.
Whether your organization is small or
large, is involved in ambulance service or health maintenance
organization, or has one facility or multiple sites across the country,
the Criteria provide a valuable framework that can help you plan in an
uncertain environment. Use the Criteria to assess performance on a wide
range of key indicators: health care outcomes; patient satisfaction; and
operational, staff, and financial indicators.
Baldrige Criteria Education for Executives
Baldrige Criteria review will create
insightful discussions among executives that may identify key
improvement strategies, initiatives, and issues that can be considered
for your annual and / or long term operational improvement planning
process. Click
here for complete description of the workshop.
State or National Application Preparation
The application can be prepared by either
the consultant or your staff with consulting assistance. It is advisable
to pursue a state application first before attempting a national
Baldrige application. The Criteria discussion will challenge executives
and key staff in a positive, stimulating manner, focusing on the
organization’s key performance improvement strategies, initiatives,
and action plans. The Feedback Report will provide the organization with
meaningful and actionable perspectives on where organizational
improvement efforts should focus. If desired, the consultants can
prepare a preliminary feedback report that supplements the formal
feedback report and, more importantly, provides immediate feedback to
enable acceleration of performance improvement efforts.
Site Visit Assistance and Preparation
After an application is submitted, the
hospital may be informed they have been selected for a site visit. This
service is most helpful to first time award applicants.
Multi-Year Performance Improvement
Planning
The Baldrige journey requires a multiyear
commitment to continuous improvement aligned with the hospital's short-
and long-term strategic planning. Consultative assistance coupled with a
Baldrige-based feedback report development of focused initiatives that
improve organizational performance.
